Hello lovely people and happy Wednesday! We are half way through the week. Today I want to talk about FOUNDATION!! Now don’t be scared, being new to this “makeup world”
I have made plenty mistakes when choosing my foundation, the worst being purchasing the wrong shade specially at the drugstore given that they do not offer “testers”. I purchased this new-ish foundation that everyone is talking about which is the L’oreal True Match Lumi Cussion.
It was very hard for me to find my shade since there is no really telling what shade you are choosing from the package. In the original L’Oreal True Match Lumi I am in the shade W4 so I really had so sit, research and think about what shade would be best for me. I had to choose a warm shade or a neutral shade. There isn’t much of a selection here but I had to work with what I had. There are only 12 shades ranging from warm, cool and neural which makes it hard to find the perfect shade.
I walked in to the store thinking I could pick up the shades Nude Beige (W3), Classic Buff (N3.5), or possibly Buff Beige (N4). W3 was not available so I was out of luck there, N4 looked too dark so I decided to not purchase it and that left me with N3.5. I am still not sure about this shade, my feelings are very mixed. I love the way it seems to disappear on my face and gives me good coverage. With that being said, I have no idea if the shade is perfect for my skin tone or its just too light, I can’t tell what color pay off it offers. I almost feel like if I am wearing it alone with no concealer, powder, blush, or contour, it just looks like my natural shade. I have never experience that with any other foundation, I’ve done the whole “color matching” at MAC and Sephora and there is always something about the foundations I get matched with that I can distinguish them form my skin tone. I have no idea if I am making sense of this but what I do know is that I can make it work.
What I can tell you so far is that this foundation is amazing. It gives you buildable to medium coverage and it makes your skin appear healthy and luminous without looking cakey. If you have oily skin you might want to set this with a translucent powder but since I am dry as the desert, I didn’t feel the need to do so. Next time I will try to pick up W3 and see where that shade falls with color payoff and blending with the skin.
I really do recommend this foundation and it’s only been my third day using it/ testing it. Go to your local drugstore pick it up, test it out and leave a comment down bellow saying what you thought about it.
